It’s faded mystery. You know, nature. Phones, travel, technology, they’ve all damaged the mystery. But, somehow it still holds secrets. Secrets only those brave enough to weather the elements, to peek their heads out from under umbrellas, to splash in puddles, to tongue some snow, to enter the fog and run. Run into the unknown, hearts ablaze like lightning and feet pounding like thunder, thumping away faster into mystery, unafraid of the unknown and full of daring. That's where they find it, themselves, the secret. The secret that leaves them breathless, and ready for more.

I was afraid. Every moment was agony, pain. Each moment was filled with uncertainty, and I couldn’t eat. Hunger gnawed, teeth gnashed. In a flash I was immobilized, I had to go no matter where I was, I had to go. Mixed feelings of relief and the burning. No matter what, it came out. Fast. Food poisoning is the worst. Period.

It’s the romance. The road holds within itself a romance. The lines separate coming and going like a dance but we’re always going. We dance on gas and tires until our cars and eyes get tired then we sleep. And friendship ferries us while life flies by at 65 70 80 miles an hour. And hours later our lids rise with the sun, slowly. The distance is horrible, wonderful. Landscapes pace our travel, its different each day. And I can’t imagine it any other way.

I look for you in these things they make me happy. I don’t know who you are. I thought I did, but you’re just a ghost whose footprints look like doors mid-close. I feel you in tousled, but empty, sheets. I find you in damp towels tossed carelessly aside while walking away from the drip drip of a shower that’s just turned off. I can’t see your reflection, it’s obscured by the mirrored fog. Our laundry is warm and freshly folded. I smell you in freshly rising coffee steam, cast against a sun that’s already risen over foreign horizons. I see your waves in the red clouds and blue waters, Shimmeri
